The world's first insulated tumbler was created in 1946 by Detroit engineering duo Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis. Using the natural insulating properties of air, they created a permanently sealed, double-wall tumbler that kept hot drinks hotter and cold drinks colder longer than traditional drinkware. With a simple combination of the last three letters of Cotter and Davis' names, "Tervis®" was born.
Still family-owned and still made in America, Tervis has survived the test of time. What began as a single-size tumbler with only a few designs is now a full line of styles with an ever-growing choice of colors, designs, licensed emblems, accessories and more. By constantly refining and improving on our original idea, the quality and durability of Tervis products will continue to be in demand as an on-the-go form of expression and the everyday way to drink in all that life has to offer.
In order to protect its designs, intellectual property and market share, Tervis is continually building upon its patent portfolio. In compliance with Section 287(a) of Title 35 of the United States Code, the reader is placed upon notice of Tervis' rights in the United States Patents identified below and associated with the following Tervis products.
